BIO
Christopher “CJ” Skelly is a freelance photojournalist, written journalist, and long-form documentary photographer. He specializes in reporting on international and domestic human rights issues, conflict, and the lives of everyday people. His work uses both the camera and the written word to document those who are often overlooked, marginalized, or directly affected by crisis. CJ approaches stories with a clear purpose: to produce honest, grounded work that cuts through the noise of modern media and shows the reality of people fighting, suffering, and struggling to endure. His recent projects focus on humanitarian and civilian-impact reporting in Eastern Europe, as well as long-term documentary studies of traditional labor communities. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, CJ served as an infantry section leader in a Combined Anti-Armor Platoon. Originally from South Florida, he and his wife split their time between North Carolina and New York City, where he continues to work on documentary assignments both locally and internationally.
